DBQ Shovel Crew
DBQ Shovel Crew
The City of Dubuque has launched DBQ Shovel Crew, a volunteer-based snow shoveling program. The program pairs volunteers with residents who are physically and financially unable to remove snow and ice from the city sidewalk adjacent to their property and do not have other resources to clear it such as neighbors, friends, or a hired service.
Volunteer on the DBQ Shovel Crew
We are currently seeking volunteers to join the DBQ Shovel Crew. The commitment is to care for a particular address, or addresses, throughout the winter season. If possible, volunteers are asked to provide their own snow-removal equipment.
We are all pedestrians at some point in the day, whether walking to a car, the bus, to work, or just in your neighborhood. Your help in keeping sidewalks clear after snow and ice events is a meaningful way to help neighbors in need and the community!
Apply for Assistance
Seniors and people with mobility challenges may qualify for sidewalk snow and ice removal assistance through the DBQ Shovel Crew Program. To be considered for the program, applicants must reside in Dubuque and meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Property must be owner-occupied AND
- The resident must be physically unable to remove snow and ice from the sidewalks AND
- Meet the income guidelines
The program will have limited capacity and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of volunteers identified will ultimately determine the number of DBQ Shovel Crew pairings that can be made through the program.
